Dear MPS Community,
As we heard recently, Superintendent Mark Schwarz has accepted a new position with Ridgewood Public Schools. We are incredibly appreciative of Mr. Schwarz's leadership while in Madison. Mr. Schwarz will finish out the school year and work diligently to ensure a smooth transition.
Change can feel disconcerting; however, we are confident in the professionalism of the team of administrators, educators and staff who work with our children every day to provide an excellent educational experience. While we work to find Madison’s next educational leader, the district will continue to run smoothly.
The Board of Education has already begun a search for an interim Superintendent including reviewing resumes and letters of interest. This is our highest priority and we hope to have a recommendation for full board approval in the coming weeks. Our aim is to have an interim Superintendent in place before Mr. Schwarz’s departure to aid with the transition.
The Board is simultaneously working to find the next Superintendent and will provide regular updates to the entire Madison community about the process and any opportunities for community input. We will also remain focused on fulfilling both our mission and our district goals to promote high levels of student achievement for all, empower every child, and model operational responsibility.
While this change in leadership presents a challenge, we believe it also provides Madison with an opportunity to define what we want to see in our next educational leader and look forward to the opportunity to do so.
Regards,
Madison Board of Education
