Dear current and future MJS families,
I hope this message finds you well.
On April 27, 2023, MJS Principal Brooke Phillips notified our community that she would not continue in Madison for the 2023-24 school year as she has accepted a principalship with another school district. I want to begin by expressing my gratitude for Principal Phillips’ commitment and dedication to serving the students, parents, and faculty of the Junior School. Her efforts in supporting student academic and emotional well-being before, during, and after the pandemic are commended.
Changes in school leadership can bring some uncertainty, so I am writing to assure you that we have launched a search for an experienced interim principal who can provide stable leadership for MJS as we prepare for 2023-24 and begin a search for a permanent replacement. To ensure we choose the best candidate possible, we will engage a representative group of stakeholders in a selection panel. We will keep the MJS community informed regarding our progress in this effort.
In the meantime, Principal Phillips will be with the school district through the end of the 2022-23 school year. We will ensure that the transition to 2023-24 is thoroughly planned and communicated over the coming weeks.
If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact any MJS or Central Office administration member.
Best wishes for a pleasant weekend.
Sincerely,
Mark Schwarz
Superintendent of Madison Public Schools
