Achievements & Accolades
The winter athletics season is off to a great start and MHS has several early season milestones to celebrate.  Congratulations to senior Charlotte Tuhy who became Madison High School’s all-time leading scorer (1837 points and counting) in a win over Oak Knoll in the Chatham Holiday Tournament.  In that game, Coach DiTuro also picked up her 100th career win as head coach.

In winter track, sophomore Isabella Bolstad set a new school record in the 600 meter race at the Len Pietrewicz Invitational with a time of 1:42.76 and then joined Kate Mack, Manuela Ribeiro, and Maya Van Horn to break the Distance Medley Relay record at the Morris County Relay Championships with a time of 12:55.85!

Congratulations to senior Gabriella Mariani who has been selected as the Madison High School representative for National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD).  Each year high schools across the country select one female that embodies the true characteristics of sports performance and leadership qualities.  This celebration inspires girls and women to play and be active, to realize their full power.  Gabriella will be honored at halftime of the Rutgers Women’s Basketball game vs. Nebraska this Sunday, January 12th.

Established in 1947, the VFW’s Voice of Democracy audio-essay program provides high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay for the chance to win a grand prize of $35,000.  This year’s theme was, “Is America Today Our Forefathers’ Vision?”.  Congratulations to ninth grader Alina George (1st place) and tenth graders Devin Ahishali (2nd place) and Christopher Wu (3rd place) whose submissions will represent Madison High School and move on to the next round.

The United Soccer Coaches Association announced the Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award recipients for high school programs competing in the fall season.  Congratulations to our Girls Soccer team for earning the Silver High School Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award and being one of 53 boys and girls soccer teams in the country to earn the platinum, gold, silver, or bronze recognition.  This award recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season.

Class of 2025 Reminders

  • College Application Tracking - Seniors must remember to input college application results in SCOIR as they begin to hear back from their applied schools.  This helps us better track the trends occurring each year with college acceptances.  Those students who have accepted their placement and have committed to their college or university of choice should remember to withdraw their applications from other schools in order to not take a possible spot away from another student.

  • Scholarship Snapshot - There are several scholarship opportunities available to the Class of 2025 listed within the Senior Page of the Guidance Website.  Guidance will continue to update this list with other opportunities as the year progresses.  Seniors should check regularly for updates.  Please reach out to Ms. Redmond in guidance with any questions.

  • NJ Financial Aid Graduation Requirement - The state of New Jersey has passed a new graduation requirement that makes the completion of a financial aid application form a prerequisite to obtaining a diploma for public high school students in the Classes of 2025, 2026, and 2027.  Please click this link for a letter with more information.  If you have additional questions, please contact your child’s counselor.
