Fall 2024
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Madison Junior School students in grades 6-8 will complete the Star Assessments in Reading and Mathematics three times a year. Star Assessments are short tests that provide us with various learning data. Star tests are computer-adaptive, which means they adjust to each answer your child provides. This will help us get the best data to help support your child in the shortest amount of testing time (about one-third of the time other tests take).
The Fall Star testing window will be next week starting on September 16th. At some point during the upcoming week your child will take the Star Assessments in Reading and Mathematics during their scheduled classroom time.
After the Fall Star testing window is complete, as a building we will be reviewing the data points to help us meet our students where they are and provide support where needed. One type of support will come from our Multi Tiered System of Support (MTSS) model. In addition, this data will help us gain an understanding for the overall continued success of our students as they progress through middle school. Star Assessment data will also serve as one of the data points we will utilize for future academic class placements.
Please refer to the Star Renaissance website for more information - Star Assessments Family Resource or reach out with any questions.Sincerely,
Frank Perrone
